An ongoing court case involving a Mother Goose Academy employee has reached a tentative resolution.
At a second pre-trial conference Wednesday in Graves County District Court, attorneys agreed to a deferred prosecution for Morgan Weaver, who was charged with second-degree wanton endangerment after an accidental fall involving an infant.
Deferred prosecution is typically used for non-violent or first-time offenders. Under the agreement, Weaver’s charge will be dismissed in November of 2026 if she avoids any new legal offenses, refrains from harmful habits, and pays $184 in court costs by next April. Her attorney also requested permission for her to maintain suitable employment while completing post-secondary education — a change that drew no objections.
The incident occurred in August and was initially reported to the Cabinet for Health and Family Services by Mother Goose Academy. Additional information was provided later by law enforcement and the child’s parent. Peyton Jackson, the father of the infant, previously said he had noticed minor visible injuries on his daughter, including a bruise and swelling. He said the daycare did not inform him of the incident until three days after it had transpired.
Weaver, who has no prior criminal history, was issued a summons rather than arrested and was suspended from Mother Goose during the investigation. The daycare has not commented on her employment status moving forward post trial.
