Graves County Schools Celebrate Strong Academic Growth and High KSA Ratings

Graves County Schools is celebrating notable academic achievement and growth following the release of the 2025 Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) results. District leaders say the success reflects the dedication of educators and the belief that all students can learn and rise to expectations when instruction meets them where they are.

“Our teachers are committed to delivering instruction that reaches every student,” the district shared. “Each day is spent creating authentic engagement while still facilitating high-quality lessons. This year’s results show measurable progress across our classrooms.”

The KSA is administered each year to grades 3 through 8, 10, and 11 across Kentucky public schools. Developed by Kentucky teachers, the assessment aligns with the Kentucky Academic Standards and covers reading and math at every grade level, while science, social studies, writing, and editing/mechanics are assessed once per school level — elementary, middle, and high.

While year-end assessments are only one part of academic evaluation, educators use them as a tool to identify strengths and areas for improvement — helping shape instruction for the year ahead. Student success is also measured through classwork, grading, unit quizzes, and daily engagement.

KSA results are measured using a five-color rating scale, ranging from very low (red) to very high (blue):

Blue (Very High): Central, Farmington, Fancy Farm, Symsonia

Green (High): Sedalia, Wingo, GCMS

Yellow (Medium): GCHS

 

Notable student achievements across the district include:

Farmington Elementary:

65% of students scored Distinguished in Reading

50% Distinguished in Social Studies and Writing

54% Proficient in Math

Symsonia Elementary:

50% of students scored Distinguished in Writing

Central Elementary:

41% of students scored Distinguished in Reading

 

District officials say these results reflect fidelity in teaching the curriculum and a strong commitment to student growth.
