Both Graves County and Mayfield High School brought home top honors after competing in Murray State University’s annual Model United Nations Conference.
Graves County High School’s inaugural Model UN team made a standout debut—debating global issues like food insecurity and artificial intelligence before helping pass resolutions in the mock UN General Assembly. Several GCHS students earned major awards, including Frankie Vowell and Deacon Edwards with an Honorary Best Delegates Award. Australia delegates Sara Pierce and Jenna Bell won Best Position Paper and the Delegate’s Choice Award. Teams representing Lebanon and India also earned Honorable Mention Best Delegate honors.
Mayfield High School also had a strong showing. Students represented six countries, tackling the same global issues. A big congrats goes to Hunter Carr, representing Mexico, who brought home two awards—the Best Delegation Award and Second Place Position Paper Award.
The Model UN prepares students with real-world diplomatic, research, and debate skills.
