Firefighters responded to a late-night house fire Saturday on Spence Chapel Road.
Clear Springs Fire Chief Dan Upton says crews were called to the 1000 block after the fire was first reported on a porch, but flames had already spread into the home by the time firefighters arrived. Much of the structure was compromised before crews brought the fire under control.
About 16 firefighters responded, with assistance from the Graves County Rescue Squad.
The cause remains under investigation. Officials remind residents to avoid overloading outlets, monitor space heaters closely, and make sure smoke detectors are working to help prevent residential fires.
