Mayfield Elementary School had a special guest visit their school this week. They proudly opened their doors and invited Kim Holloway, District 2 Kentucky State Representative, to be Principal for A Day. The Kentucky Association of School Administrators has a statewide program that gives legislators and community leaders a chance to shadow a school principal for a day. This program helps by providing a first hand look at the day to day operations, instructional leadership, climate and culture of the school, decision making process and the very, very, real and hardworking efforts that take place place behind the scenes in education. Along with this insight, it provides a strong partnership between public education and those making decisions at the state level.
Last Month Holloway spent the day with Graves County Central Elementary and Farmington Elementary school.
“Today, I was able to visit Mayfield Elementary school, where I ran into some familiar young people. My experience at all three schools was a blessing and I continue to be in awe of the work our educators do to help our children learn,” said Holloway. “Thank you for including me in this event.”
Mayfield Elementary states that they were honored to have Mrs. Holloway spend the day with them and for experiencing just a small part of what the Cardinal family does each day.
“Her time with our students and staff was encouraging, supportive, and appreciated. We are thankful she chose to be part of Mayfield Elementary today — and we welcome her back anytime,” said Mayfield Elementary School via Facebook.
