Mayfield Mayor Kathy O’Nan honored playwright Leslie Kimbell this week, presenting her with a Key to the City in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the arts and her longtime support of the local creative community.
Kimbell, an accomplished playwright, has premiered several works across the region. This month, her connection to the community deepened even further as the Purchase Players Community Performing Arts Center prepares to host the world premiere of her newest production, The Four Old Broads Christmas Extravaganza.
The holiday comedy will take the stage over the next two weekends, giving audiences the rare chance to experience a brand-new show before it appears anywhere else. City officials say the premiere is not only a celebration of Kimbell’s talent, but also a testament to the resilience and vibrancy of Mayfield’s arts scene.
Mayor O’Nan described the honor as well deserved, noting that Kimbell’s work has brought joy, connection, and cultural enrichment to the community.
Residents are encouraged to support local theatre and enjoy an original holiday performance created by one of Mayfield’s own. Tickets and show details are available through the Purchase Players CPAC.
