West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation (WKRECC) recently partnered with Graves County Economic Development through its “Power in Partnership” program, spending time with students enrolled in the electrical program at the Area Technology Center (ATC) in Mayfield.

As part of the visit, WKRECC Safety Coordinator Justin Rickman and linemen Russ Kirby and Jaron Wood spoke with students about what a typical day on the job looks like and shared important information about safety procedures and industry expectations. The students were able to ask questions and learn firsthand about careers in the electrical field.

WKRECC leaders said they were proud to participate and appreciated the invitation to engage directly with students who may be considering careers in skilled trades.

The Power in Partnership Program brings professionals from a variety of career fields into classrooms to speak directly with students about job responsibilities, pay and benefits, training requirements after high school, career advancement and progression and skills needed in the workforce

By connecting students with real-world professionals, the program aims to help them make informed decisions about their futures and better understand the opportunities available in local industries.
