James Terrell “Brody” JanesMayfield, KY

James Terrell Janes, “Brody,” age 58, of Mayfield, Kentucky, passed away on December 5, 2025, surrounded by love. Born on December 30, 1966, he was a loving husband, a wonderful dad, and a cherished “Poppal” whose gentle heart and steady presence touched everyone around him.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Janes; his son and daughter-in-law, Curt and Natalie Janes; his grandchildren, Madalynn, Tyler, and Alex Janes; and seven additional grandchildren gained through his wife. He is also survived by his sister, Sylvia Janes, and his nephews, Austin and Ryan Lipps. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lula Anderson Janes and Jimmy Janes.

Terry was a graduate of Wingo High School and worked as a Sheet Metal Mechanic before becoming disabled. He was of the Baptist faith and lived it through kindness, generosity, and a willingness to help anyone in need. He deeply valued the camaraderie of his construction brothers and the friendships they shared. An avid Merle Haggard fan, he loved to sing and often filled the room with music. He will be remembered for his warm humor, his gentle spirit, and his fierce protectiveness of the people he loved.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield, Ky.  with the funeral service beginning at 12 p.m. with  Bro. Ronnie Stinson, Jr.  Officiating. Burial will follow in The Trace Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Curt Janes, Matt Maxwell, Ronnie Hornbeak, Shane Fitzgerald, David Maxwell, Daniel Bowman, Thomas Crews, and Scott McDaniel.

Honorary pallbearers are: Austin Lipps and Ryan Lipps.

In lieu of flowers: The Family request that donations be sent to The Brown Funeral Home in Honor of James Terrell Janes to assist with the cost of services. This can be made online through our website payment center.
