During the Mayfield Minute last week, Mayor Kathy O’Nan touched on Christmas Connections and the upcoming donation drive for this holiday season. O’Nan mentioned that while many are very generous in our community to donate toys for the younger age groups, sometimes a specific age group can be left out. Teenagers.

“I taught high school during my teaching career, and generally what they like can be more expensive than what the younger children like, but I do know one thing that they like,” said Mayor O’Nan. “They like to eat.”

Until Tuesday, November 26th, the mayor’s office will be collecting any amount of gift cards from fast food restaurants, or cash donations, to be taken to Christmas Connections so they can gift them to the teenagers in our community this holiday season. This will be the seventh year of the giftcard drive.

“The community has been extremely generous in the past with their support and donations to Christmas Connections which benefits every child in Mayfield and Graves County school systems, and we’re counting on you again this year,” said Mayor O’Nan.

O’Nan also mentioned how food is a big topic currently. With the pause of SNAP benefits and uncertainty of funds and access to food, this is another wonderful way to help support the children in our community this holiday season.

“As Christmas approaches, we want to thank you so much for everything you do for the children in our community,” said Mayor O’Nan.

Gift cards may be brought to the Mayor’s office, 1257 Paris Road (the former Snap Fitness location) on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
